The university insists it was an accidental formatting error, saying the date was mistakenly copied into the menu template and the signs were removed once staff noticed. But critics on X aren't buying the explanation, with one calling it a "convenient mistake" as the university continues to face scrutiny over its handling of antisemitism on campus. He had 15 days to repay about $450 million, with interest compounding daily. In January 2019 SoftBank had valued WeWork at $47 billion. Then the IPO filing went public. It lost $1.9 billion in 2018, and it was signing long leases on whole buildings while renting desks month to month. Investors walked. By September the IPO was dead and he was out. His fortune was WeWork stock. He had borrowed against it, and the loans had a clause: if he lost control of the company, they were in default. Pay in 15 days, or the bank takes the shares. He had the shares and no cash. A few nights later he woke up crying next to his wife, Rebekah. It was the first time she had ever seen him cry. "We lost everything." "What do you mean everything?" "Everything." She reminded him of the $100 million they had agreed to put in her name, just in case. He had never done it. And the personal guarantee they had agreed he would never sign. He had signed it. She didn't blame him. "Hm, okay, this is a surprise." Her mother owned a house upstate, bought 30 years earlier, no mortgage. "Let's go live with my mom. Take a few months. If you want to go back into business, I know you'll be successful. And if you don't, we'll move to Costa Rica." Then: "When I met you, you were broke. I think you're much more sexy when you're broke." He smiled. Two broken promises, a $450 million hole, and she answered with a plan and a joke. That is what a partner looks like on the worst night. SoftBank paid off the banks and took control. In 2022 Andreessen Horowitz put $350 million into his next company. His rule now: "Choose your partner for the day something like that happens, not for any other day."view source ↗

I left Beehiiv because they raised prices for the 3rd time in 2 years. - My first yearly bill was $1,000. - My future bill would have been $4,000. Now I'm using AWS SES + MongoDB, and I will pay less than $300/year. Newsletter platforms charge per subscriber, when in fact the real cost is the number of emails sent. Subscribers will naturally become inactive, so you end up paying more for something that hurts your deliverability (sending to dormant subscribers = spam trap). So I've set a cleanup cron job for my newsletter alternative. It marks inactive subs as dormant, sends one last re-engaging email, and stops emailing them. Money saved. Deliverability increased. I also gain a priceless feature: Freedom. I can change the UI, add features, connect all my apps - anything is possible with just a prompt. I'm replacing Resend next. I love it, but it's very expensive ($400/mo)view source ↗

It directed authorities to reconsider the restrictions and allow Metro and other train services to operate in a regulated manner, keeping in mind the principle of proportionality and avoiding inconvenience to Delhi residents. “We make it clear that no complete prohibition of movement of Metro should be imposed. The Solicitor General has fairly agreed to impress upon the authorities to reconsider the prohibition and allow Metro and other trains in such a regulated manner so that no inconvenience is caused to residents of Delhi, keeping in mind the principles of proportionality”, the court said. The Court also directed that the revised restrictions and advisories be given due publicity through newspapers, official websites and other platforms so that commuters are aware of barricades, restrictions and alternate routes. SC has asked organisers of protests to move an urgent plea on issues directly concerning the right to protest and restrictions imposed on protesters. The Court indicated that the present proceedings were primarily concerned with restrictions affecting the movement of ordinary citizens and access to public transport.view source ↗

Until now, if you wanted an animated explainer for your product, a pitch or a launch, you either learned After Effects or paid a motion designer and waited. Claude just shipped Claude Motion. You hand it a report, a chart or just an idea, and it builds a short animation you can download as an MP4. It writes the animation as code, so you can change any word, number or timing after. Here's what this actually means if you run a business. → Hand it your monthly numbers and get a 30 second animated explainer back → Your app's onboarding walkthrough, fully animated, no motion designer → Drop it into Higgsfield or Runway and add real footage on top I've been getting Claude to code motion graphics for a while now, and setting it up was always the hard part. If you make any kind of video for your business and you're not trying this soon, you're doing it the slow way.view source ↗

Which customers does it bring? - Look beyond the number of inquiries and check whether they have the problem your company solves. 2. Why do they buy? - Find out whether they want your standard offer or keep asking for work you don't plan to sell. 3. How long does it take? - Include the time between the first interaction and a real buying conversation before judging the channel. 4. What happens after the sale? - Check whether these customers stay, use the product, and need more help than you expected. 5. What work does the headline cost hide? - Include research, production, replies, sales follow-up, and any founder time needed to close. 6. Can the team handle more demand? - A successful campaign can create a delivery problem if nobody planned for the extra customers. 7. What depends on one person? - A channel built around the founder's relationships may not grow just because the budget grows. 8. What else helped the result? - Consider referrals, an existing audience, a launch, or another campaign before assigning all the credit here. 9. What would the next investment actually buy? - More of the same activity, access to a new audience, or a different approach should have different expectations. 10. What will you stop funding? - Make the comparison against the next-best use of the money, including improving conversion or retention. A channel can look expensive per inquiry and still bring customers worth keeping. A cheap channel can send sales a mountain of work that goes nowhere. Before scaling either one, follow the customer far enough to tell which business you're buying more of.view source ↗
