I really hesitated to write this, but if I don’t speak up today, I will be facing a severe financial crisis within a week or two. To be clear, I am not asking for charity or financial help. I am asking for work. I have been completely without work for the last three months. My last project ended on June 30th, and since then I have knocked on every door I know—calling, texting, meeting contacts, and following up. People say they will try, but after that first talk, the silence takes over. Calls go unanswered or get cut after a couple of rings. I honestly don't know whether the industry is shifting because of AI or if my age (52) is working against me, but despite over 13 years of solid experience in the field, nothing has materialized. Now, my savings are down to the very end. I can barely hold out for another week or two. I am a professional content writer, translator, and speaker who is comfortable on stage and in front of the camera. I write and translate fluently across Gujarati, Hindi, and English, with Gujarati being my strongest suit. Many of you already know my grasp of politics and my political writing, but I am equally adept at covering Bollywood and cricket. My priority is media houses, digital platforms, or publications, but I am open to any genuine writing or translation opportunity. I can work remotely or take up assignments on-site anywhere in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, as I need to be close to my elderly mother to take care of her health. Because my situation is urgent, I am especially looking for quick-turnaround freelance assignments or immediate projects where payments can be settled on submission. If you or anyone in your circle has work, please reach out to me directly in my DMs. A humble, earnest request: while I deeply value your warmth, please refrain from sending just "best wishes" or "stay strong" messages right now. I am fighting hard to stay out of a very dark headspace, and right now, view source ↗

It has been the best upgrade to my workflow since GPT 3. Second only to learning VIM. I exported all my past chats to it, and life has been amazing. The convenience of having a single unified log of my entire life, in a way the AI (and I) can navigate to find any information about me is indescriptible. Before, I had all these campaigns spread out across different Claude Code sessions, and even different harnesses. Each part of my life was on a different place, and Opus sucks at navigating these past memories because it is a huge mess. Now it is all just there, in one place. Any fact from my life is 3-4 zoom hops away. Any prompt I wrote, any algorithm I designed, is a few hops away. It feels like my life is now burned in the models weights, even though it is just a silly compression trick. "what is the state of that PR about λ-contraction again?" (3 zoom hops later...) "it was 2 weeks ago. you went to eat yogurt and forgot to reply" --- "remind me of that purely affine sort algorithm?" (5 zoom hops later...) "you wrote this 7 months ago: <code>. the trick is..." --- "find the top 3 pending topics in my life that need my attention" (several zoom hops later...) "here they are: ..." --- It just feels fantastic how well this just works. Also, the way the context is reseted on every turn clearly makes the AI perform better, it completely eliminates context rot, and I never have to /compact manually again. There is no need to. And yes, it is surprisingly cache efficient, because in-turn messages (where most of the cost is) are cached, and even cross-turn, most of the view is intact due to the way the binary compression works. I had to fix some silly bugs on OptMem to make it so, but now it just works. My costs DROPPED. Also the fact I can manually navigate the memory tree myself, starting from the root, and finding anything about my life. It is just so natural. Everything is there. Also, I realize I canview source ↗

I'm lucky to sit next to my speedy colleague @t2govind at work, who is consistently running a few steps ahead of me in this unusual era. Whenever I already know something Govind tells me, I let out a loud 😮💨 "phew." And once in a blue moon I'm ahead of Govind… and I get a fleeting 😎 fist-pump moment that I relish for a few microseconds. If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that there are people who are fast at change, and then there's everybody else. When everyone's comfortable with the existing direction, people don't want to change. When a direction does change, it has to meet three requirements to get organizationally metabolized: 1/ Be familiar to our culture — ideally invented by "one of us," so it doesn't contain any enemy booby traps we might not know about. 2/ Be known to have succeeded 99 times out of 100 — ideally 100 out of 100, so we don't end up being the 1-in-100 failure. 3/ Cost nothing and require almost no effort — not everyone has to participate, and it gets charged to a new cost center, not mine. I've found that when these three aren't met, folks start drifting back to the way things were, because that's what appears safer. Why? Because their existing recipe for success worked so well in the past. Why break what's already working? So change can be immediate for a person. It's never immediate for an organization. When I was younger I could be just like Govind. But in the later chapters of my career, I've come to see fast changers' impatience as a virtue, one I now balance against the puzzle of how to unlock change in everyone else. Granted, I personally jumped into the Jevolution last week with every other "only the paranoid survive" nerd who instinctively reacts to the latest craze. But it's important to pace oneself. Although the Cozy AI Kitchen https://t.co/9Y8TALIF7y is closed, I'm carrying on its tradition of a cozy attitude as a way to handle all the ch-ch-changeview source ↗
