Here's my 6-step process (and prompts) for ranking in Google's AI Overviews: 1. Pick one search you actually want to win Ideally a buying-intent query that already triggers an AI Overview. 2. Track how Google answers it Collect the AI Overview over 7+ days. You can do this in 2 ways: FREE Search it manually every day and save: - The full answer - Citations - Date PAID Add the prompt to a tool like https://t.co/IbVSm7Cw9R and automatically track the answers + citations over time. 3. Find what keeps showing up Paste all the answers into ChatGPT or Claude and add the following prompt: -- Analyse these Google AI Overview answers and find the patterns that appear across them. Identify: - Recurring claims - Repeated entities - Common sources - Common answer formats - Repeated information/order - Major differences For each pattern, show how often it appears (e.g. 8/10 answers). Then summarise the most consistent patterns Google seems to favour. -- You’re basically building a picture of what Google consistently includes for that search. 4. Find what Google is rewarding Now study the pages that get cited most frequently by using the following prompt: -- Analyse these pages that Google cites in the AI Overview and tell me what they have in common. [paste URLs] Focus on: - How quickly they answer the question - Topics and entities they cover - How they structure the information - What evidence, data or examples they include - Whether they use lists, tables, comparisons or steps - What gaps or differences exist between them Then summarise: 1. The main patterns across the cited pages 2. What Google seems to be rewarding 3. What a better page should include to compete -- You want to understand both what they have in common AND what’s missing. 5. Build something better Use everything you found to create or improve your page. - Cover the important topics - Include thview source ↗

I asked the most basic question someone can ask - "Write a code to make an API call and if it falls then retry it for a maximum of 3 times". Even for this the candidate took 15 minutes and still getting syntax errors. This is also an outcome of using AI for everything and then not knowing the very basics. Just because you are using AI, doesn't mean that you can't make an API call. And all this after the candidate claimed that he is not good at DSA but is good at development🤦🏻view source ↗

Copy trading has a dirty secret. DWF Ventures tracked 292,000 fomo wallets over three months. Only 6.16% ended in profit. The problem isn’t copying. It’s who you copy and for how long. So I stopped picking. At 8 AM Grok took a trader from the weekly top and my phone started buzzing. The first hours were small. $GLORP +$4.10. $NUBBY +$6.02. One loss for -$1.40. When that trader tried to size in too big, the trade was skipped. Then he took 2 losses in a row. Grok dropped him before lunch and moved to the weekly #3, a 79% win rate. That switch made the day. $96.30 on one exit. $162.80 on another, after the trader put 412 SOL into a coin and Grok followed with 2.1. $204.55 on the last big win before close. Every exit fired within half a second of the trader selling. Grok picked, copyfomo executed, I watched the lock screen. copyfomo: https://t.co/a09rFo82sx 10:20 AM: $206. Noon: $359. 4 PM: $802. 8 PM: $1,342. 76 wins. 17 losses. 13.4x in one working day. One day isn’t three months. But it shows where the edge sits: not in copying, in deciding who to drop. The full setup is below and free. Hardly anyone has saved it. Save it before your next copy trade.view source ↗

Then a US Air Force officer in South Africa told him the company was worth $52 million. He did not expect anything back. He says he sent it only to help. Zip2 sold to Compaq in April 1999 for $307 million in cash, and Errol says the next thing Elon bought was a domain name for $600,000. The almost 2 minute recording attached to this post is Errol Musk telling it himself, from the same interview as my last post. He is answering a question about the PayPal sale, and he starts with what he believed when the money first left his account. Watch 0:30, when the officer comes to him and says the number out loud. Errol asks if he is crazy. Then he flew over to find out what was going on. He says the real figure was much, much more than $52 million. At 1:00 Elon asks him what a check costs to cash. Errol says about $2.50 in South Africa. Elon says $1.75 in America, and that doing it over the internet would cost a fraction of a cent. At 1:45 he says what Elon paid for https://t.co/cq2d6ZnARr: $600,000, for a domain the first owner bought for $39 and wanted a million for. That is about 15,000 times what it cost the person who registered it, on his account. I think the wasted-money thought is the honest part. Almost nobody who funds someone's first company expects it back, and the ones who are right about that hear the number last. You can run this test on yourself. Before you put money into someone's idea, write down what you expect back, even if the answer is nothing. Does a father who expects nothing back still deserve a phone call when the company he funded sells for $307 million?view source ↗

Five people, appointed by a parliament most of the planet could not find on a map, who decide, once a year, which human being the world has agreed to call good. I know. I know. I think about it on the tram. We meet in a building on Henrik Ibsens gate, a street named after a man who wrote almost exclusively about people discovering they are frauds, which nobody on the committee finds funny except me. There is a room with a long table and the portraits of the dead laureates looking down, Mandela, the Dalai Lama, a great many earnest men in spectacles, and one portrait we do not discuss, which is Kissinger, 1973, awarded while the bombs were still falling, after which two of our predecessors resigned and the satirist Tom Lehrer said political satire was now obsolete. We keep him on the wall. A reminder. Every family has the uncle. It is October in Oslo, which means the sun gives up around four in the afternoon like a civil servant, and it rains the particular Norwegian rain that isn’t quite falling, just hanging there, judging you. I arrive with wet shoes. I always arrive with wet shoes. There is coffee, because this is Norway and there is always coffee, we drink more of it per person than almost anyone alive, and someone’s wife has sent kanelboller, the cinnamon buns, and we sit, five Norwegians, damp, caffeinated, sugared, and we decide the moral standing of the entire species. Let me tell you how it actually works, because the world imagines a cathedral and it is, I promise you, a book club with a mandate. 287 nominations this year. 208 people, 79 organizations. Anyone can nominate, that’s the secret nobody understands: a professor, a parliamentarian, a former laureate, so the “nominee” list is meaningless, it’s a suggestion box, and every autumn some congressman nominates his own golden retriever and the press writes “SHORTLISTED.” Nobody is shortlisted. There is no short list the public evview source ↗

Anything they do the exact same way every time, like onboarding, invoices, reporting or follow-ups. Repetition is money. Two. Anything where a person copies info from one place to another. Emails into the CRM, PDFs into a spreadsheet. That’s pure gold. Three. Anything they say “we should really sort that out” about. They’ve already decided it’s worth fixing, you just have to offer. Then I do the maths out loud. “You said someone spends an hour a day on this. That’s 5 hours a week, about 260 hours a year. That’s over 6 weeks of someone’s wages spent copying and pasting.” Now the price makes sense before I’ve even said a number. That one conversation is usually where the $5k automation is hiding. I’m not selling n8n or Zapier workflows. I’m selling those 6 weeks back. The tools are the easy part. Understanding the problem and showing what it costs to leave it is what gets you paid. The main fix is the maths. An hour a day is about 260 hours a year, which is closer to six and a half working weeks than “a full month”. Someone in the replies will check, so it’s better to have the right number. It’s also bigger, which makes the point stronger.view source ↗

I make ~$10k per month as an indie dev. These are the moats I see, and I'm building right now. 1. Complexity. You can't vibe code Revolut. Or build hardware that easily. It's too complex. It'd take a lot of work! Semi complex software, like PostBridge, you could make it yourself, but it'd take a few weeks getting approved for the APIs. Kinda long! With complex software, it takes a lot of effort and you've gotta be a bit lucky (how many postbridge clones are there?) I tried this and also failed! 2. Personal Brand. This is the best one imo. Best balance of effort and reward. If you have 50k on IG as a yoga girlie, you're doing multiple six figures. But it's a hard moat to build, takes a lot of time and effort, trial and error. If you can do this, it's the best one imo. 3. Network. Nomadtable, or even IG. You could vibecode IG in one prompt, but people use it because all their friends are there! Networks are the hardest moat imo. Takes a massive amount of luck or an extreme amount of hard work and effort, or an existing social following. I wouldn't bet on this one. 4. Mass distribution (B2C). Mobile apps mostly really simple. Most of the effort is marketing. If you have a bit of taste tho, you can go super far, there's so much mobile slop out there. We're not selling to broke indie devs, we're selling to the mums with nothing else to do, the masses who don't even use the free tier of ChatGPT, that don't know what an Anthropic is. I think this is the easiest moat right now, but the most volatile, as personal software will eat this up. BUT: we're in a window, where it's incredible easy to build and market these apps. This is the mobile goldrush, it's the new drop shipping. Within reason, I think you can run any app up to ~10k/m with paid ads, and clear ~3k/m profit. Easiest moat, but also the most volatile. The moats I'm going for? • All in on personal branding. • Making a social/network app (WIP).view source ↗
