I think the way that a lot of AI companies are thinking is, let us use AI to replace humans." "But what we found is that there's so much that good researchers and good engineers can bring to the table that's gonna be very hard to replace by agents." "And so that's why from the very beginning, we've tried to think of our basically entire company as a multi-agent system, where humans are a kind of agent that's cohabitating with other AI agents." "We have one of our engineers that we named the Viceroy of Variance. That's a real thing. His job is to go and destroy the results we have and find what's wrong." "So far we have not found a replacement for what we call quality time. Literally running hundreds of experiments, looking at it, developing an intuition, trying to figure out what is wrong, what is not wrong... what is just variance, what is not." @makermaker_ai @_dval_view source ↗

Ethan Cajigas is 19. He was a national wrestling champion who hated cutting weight before competitions. So he built CutCoach - a science-based weight-cut app for combat sport athletes. The numbers: > $0 to $60K+ total revenue in 6 months > 39,000+ downloads > $20K in a single month > Built solo with Cursor + ChatGPT His playbook was almost boring: 1. Solve a problem inside your own hobby. 2. Ask ChatGPT to brainstorm app ideas in that niche. 3. Design in Figma. Steal layout patterns from bigger apps in the space (Duolingo-style shoulders-of-giants). 4. Build front-end first with Cursor, then back-end. Supabase for DB, RevenueCat + Superwall for paywalls, OpenAI for AI features. 5. Ship fast. Iterate on what users actually want. The marketing unlock: organic posts only pulled 200–500 views… but converted at 5–10%. High-intent beats high-volume every single time. Then he DM’d small TikTok/Reels creators (1K–10K views) for partnerships. Most said yes. Later he took the winning influencer videos and turned them into paid ads - revenue exploded. The takeaway: no niche is too small. Wrestlers will pay $30 to make weight because missing weight costs them way more. Find a painful problem in a small passionate community and build for THEM - not everyone.view source ↗

Tesla once tried to cancel the sale of one car to the man who named the company. Martin Eberhard had already paid for Founders Series car number 2, and he had to sue to get it. Eberhard started Tesla with Marc Tarpenning in 2003 and was its first CEO. Musk wrote the biggest check of the first round, became chairman and later blamed Eberhard for the Roadster's delays and overruns. "I had paid full price in advance for this car. And they tried to rescind that deal," he says. Before he got it, a Tesla test driver drove it into the back of a truck. The car became part of his 2009 lawsuit against Musk. Founders Series cars were meant to carry a plaque signed by Eberhard and Tarpenning. By delivery he had been pushed out, and the plaque Tesla sent later had other people's signatures, not theirs. His license plate now reads FOUNDER. His daily Roadster came off a used lot in Los Angeles with about 175 miles on it. The previous owner, he says, was Justine Musk, who won it in the divorce and never drove it. Nobody had to sue for that one.view source ↗

The top 20 still went from $147B to $192B, and the biggest jump came from a $10B assistant that is still in early access. Here are the 20 most valuable AI agent startups, and who raised since our September board: 1. Cognition, $48B. Coding. Up from $26B, closed Sep 8. 2. Sierra, $15.8B. Customer service agents. 3. Harvey, $15.5B. Legal. Up from $11B, closed Sep 9. 4. OpenEvidence, $15B. Clinical search. Up from $12B (reported). 5. Lovable, $13.3B. Vibe coding. 6. Instinct, $10B. Personal assistant. Up from $2.5B, closed Sep 28. 7. Mercor, $10B. AI recruiting. Still in talks at $20B. 8. Replit, $9B. Coding. 9. Glean, $7.2B. Enterprise agents. 10. Clay, $7.1B. GTM agents. Up from $5B, closed Sep 9. 11. Legora, $5.6B. Legal. Talks cut to $8.5B. 12. Abridge, $5.3B. Clinical notes. 13. Factory, $5B. Coding. Up from $1.5B, closed Sep 15. 14. Wonderful, $5B. Customer agents. 15. Decagon, $4.5B. Customer agents. 16. EliseAI, $4B. Housing and healthcare. New. 17. Hippocratic AI, $3.5B. Patient agents. 18. Parloa, $3B. Voice agents. 19. Genspark, $2.6B. General agents. 20. Armadin, $2.5B+. Security agents. New. 3 things the chart says. 1. The queue mostly cleared. In September, 5 reported raises added up to a $42B markup. Cognition closed $1B above its reported price, Harvey and Clay closed on theirs, and $28.6B of the $42B landed. Mercor has been in talks at $20B since July. Legora's reported ask fell from $10B+ to $8.5B. 2. The biggest moves were not in the queue. Instinct went from $2.5B to $10B in 33 days, and it is still in early access. Factory went from $1.5B in April to $5B. Neither was on the raising list. 3. Coding still runs the board. Cognition, Lovable, Replit and Factory are worth $75.3B, 39% of the top 20. Cognition alone is now worth more than #2, #3 and #4 combined. Save this. If Mercor closes at $20B, it jumps to #2. --view source ↗

"One example I used to give, and my buddy started, left OpenAI and started a company called Core Automation, which we're really excited about. I think I mentioned the other night, he invented the reasoning model at OpenAI, and he's got a somewhat under the radar startup." "I think that you're going to have AI starting businesses. And that's, I think, part of his plan is to have within OpenAI, OpenAI Pharma, OpenAI Motors, OpenAI Aviation, OpenAI, et cetera. And he will have his versions of those. And you're going to have a whole S&P 500 within OpenAI or Anthropic or wherever." "So I think that the opportunities are boundless. And one last thing is that McDonald's can afford to spend $10 billion and say, OpenAI, give me 10 million GPUs. I want to know what the best next sandwich we should launch is. And that's an NPV positive." "If the intelligence is worth it, if it's not asymptotic, at some point, more tokens doesn't get you a better answer. But when that day comes where you say, instead of hiring McKinsey or a focus group, I need 10 million GPU minds to think about what should McDonald's do right now."view source ↗

If it hits blockers on tasks, it'll just keep going until it finds a solution It's also trained on subjects people do in their regular life like health, finance, and legal While most agents just have a general purpose model plugged in, it seems Meta is going all in specifically on the agent use case, which I think is an awesome idea I think AI agents are the holy grail Whatever company wins the agent race, will win the AI race. They'll get access to basically everyone's data and have a massive edge over the other labs. Everyone is plugging in basically their entire private lives into these agents without a care in the world (including myself) Now we just need to see how they integrate this with their hardware, which they also clearly have an edge in as well. Seriously debating getting the Ray Ban displays and building my own apps for it (cough cough meta DMs open) Now we wait to see how the other labs respond...view source ↗
