On paper it was a terrible idea - he hired a lead designer, a head dev, and a front-end dev before he had a single customer. He funded the whole thing with the leftover cash from a marketing agency he’d been running for 10 years. Then instead of TikTok, UGC, or building in public… he went door to door with an iPad. He didn’t skip a single business. Music studios, repair shops, electricians - he’d walk in, show the widget on an iPad in their branding, and hand them a printed brochure. Trades kept saying yes because they’re direct, no-bullshit, and they only pay for stuff that pays for itself. That’s how he got his first 10 customers. Now Avenue is embedded on client sites AND inside Google’s “Book Online” button through a direct Google partnership. His one piece of advice: sell before you build. If someone will hand over cash before the product exists, you’ve found something worth pursuing.view source ↗
