Zuckerberg talked to every AI lab leader before picking Alexandr Wang.
Meta even tried to buy Ilya Sutskever’s SSI, Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines and Perplexity.

Meta even tried to buy Ilya Sutskever’s SSI, Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines and Perplexity.
His words: “I talked to all the leaders of all the labs, all the heads of research, and I was like, no, Alex is the guy. He’s the fucking guy.”
Even Zuck admits people doubted it. It looked like “the social media guy is working with the data guy.”
It started with one 44-minute call. Two days later, Wang sent him a long note on what he would do in Zuck’s seat. Point one: Meta didn’t need a lot of people. Talent density was the thing that mattered.
Wang dropped out of MIT after a year, started Scale AI at 19 and became the youngest self-made billionaire at 24. In 2025 Meta put $14.3 billion into Scale for a 49% stake and brought him in to run Meta Superintelligence Labs.
This week that lab shipped Muse Wonder Full. The Full version scores 56 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. Only Claude Opus 5.5 scores higher. https://t.co/THtp9BTRwX
Theo's right about everything but he's missing one thing.
Right:
- It is (annoyingly) a good model. Reality would be simpler if this weren't the case, but no, it's actually very good.
- It is horrendous at UI
- It speaks very nicely; feels smart, heavy, and big
Wrong:
- THERE IS NO SUBSCRIPTION SUBSIDY. OMG THIS THIN…Theo's right about everything but he's missing one thing.

Wrong:
- THERE IS NO SUBSCRIPTION SUBSIDY. OMG THIS THING IS FUCKING EXPENSIVE.
Theo seemingly has an API key that is giving him unlimited access to the model so he wasn't able to get a good sense for pricing.
I first started with the $5 plan, couldn't finish a single turn, upgraded to $15 plan, couldn't finish more than a couple turns, upgraded to the $50 plan, couldn't finish the whole request, and finally upgraded to the $200 plan an hour ago, and IT'S GONE (5 hr limit).
Afaict there is no actual reason to use Muse Wonder (Full) at all at these prices.
If Meta's $200 subscription quota is really what it costs to use AI for coding (and it probably is), then we are all in for a very, very rude awakening when the token subsidies end.

Muse Wonder Full 1.0 — 53.0%

The models is not Opus 5.5 Level and is not token efficient at all. There are more downsides to the model than there are upsides.
GPT-6.1 Sol still remains the king at being token efficient.
Sol costs about $1 per task,
Haiku costs about $1.23 per task,
Wonder costs about $1.75 per task.
Wonder Full costs about $2.87 per task
Astra costs $6.6 and Opus 5.5 - $7.5
This price could have been very justified if the performance was on level with Opus or Astra but it is below Sol and Haiku. Wonder is on GLM-5.3 level while Wonderfull is short of Sol & Haiku.
Wonder is really bad at complex prompts, developing fully featured apps unattended.
The bench for context tests for 6 prompts that involve building a docker clone (VM), GBA, DS Emulation, Room Desigining Software, Pokemon Red reconstruction, QMK/VIA Compatible Keyboard Configurator and so on. The model is not acing any of these tests. The full test results will be available on the YT Video: https://t.co/Z1XMPnAbIL
🚨do you understand what Zuckerberg just admitted about Meta's first frontier model.
Zuckerberg: "We're gonna write this check for like $100 billion, $200 billion. I'm like, Alex, are you sure this is going to work?"
Alexandr Wang: "…certainly not clear at all that it was going to work."
it's called Muse Wonder.

here's the part nobody is talking about:
> Meta's own tests put it level with Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra
> on MemoryBench it beats Fable, Opus and Astra
> $4 input, $20 output per million tokens, same tier as Opus 5.5
> trained at Prometheus, Meta's new data center in Ohio
> no independent benchmarks yet
$200 billion. one bet. and the guy signing the check wasn't sure it would work.
now we find out if it did.

🚨 Muse Wonder VS Claude Opus 5.5
meta claims Muse Wonder outperforms models like Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1, so i decided to put that claim to the test.
i gave Muse Wonder and Opus 5.5 the exact same prompt: build an animated Popeye website from scratch.
and here are the final results from both models.

I really like this model.

3. muse code: meta is coming for coding agents now too
memory + focus is the whole personal agent game
and meta has the one little thing nobody else has
your friends, your photos, your DMs and 20 years of your life
this personal agent race just got interesting
ps: where is apple in this personal agent race?!
Wow, insanely interesting release from Meta

They just released Muse Wonder, their first model trained SPECIFICALLY for AI agent use
It's trained to not give up. If it hits blockers on tasks, it'll just keep going until it finds a solution
It's also trained on subjects people do in their regular life like health, finance, and legal
While most agents just have a general purpose model plugged in, it seems Meta is going all in specifically on the agent use case, which I think is an awesome idea
I think AI agents are the holy grail
Whatever company wins the agent race, will win the AI race.
They'll get access to basically everyone's data and have a massive edge over the other labs. Everyone is plugging in basically their entire private lives into these agents without a care in the world (including myself)
Now we just need to see how they integrate this with their hardware, which they also clearly have an edge in as well.
Seriously debating getting the Ray Ban displays and building my own apps for it (cough cough meta DMs open)
Now we wait to see how the other labs respond...
