The individual that planted the device was Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a Saudi national and engineer on the product team who joined OpenAI in July 2025.
Key allegations from the complaint (N.D. Cal.):
• On or about Sept. 30, OpenAI’s technical surveillance team found a surreptitious audio recording device plugged into a USB port on the back of a TV in an executive conference room. It was concealed in toilet paper, installed around Sept. 28, and its contents were encrypted.
• The room is used for highly confidential technical, commercial, and strategic discussions. Alfozan had no authority to access it or attend meetings there. CCTV showed him near the room on multiple dates beforehand.
• On Oct. 5 he entered the room and appeared to look behind the TV. That same day he left an unattended bag in another room containing his wallet, ID, and a second similar recording device.
• Before installation, he queried internal tools about building addresses, meeting rooms, room capacities, calendars, and locations of leadership and external partner meetings.
• A chatbot account tied to his spouse (sharing multiple identifiers with his own) submitted prompts between Sept. 24–30 about building a continuous audio recorder, encrypting the SD card, concealing the device, adding Wi-Fi/remote access, and the specific device’s MAC address.
He’s been charged with using or attempting to use a device to intercept oral communications (18 U.S.C. § 2511).
If convicted: up to 5 years, $250,000 fine, and 3 years supervised release.
Arrested Oct. 9, initial appearance Oct. 13, remains in custody. Detention hearing set for Oct. 19.
OpenAI says it used its models to help identify him, coordinated the termination with the FBI (access was progressively restricted beforehand), and has no indications of model-weight, source-code, or customer-data exfiltration.

I truly believe this is the future of the economy. Everyone having autonomous microbusinesses making $
Here's how I'd set up my own autonomous business if I were you:
1. First you need an idea. Go to your Grok Bot and ask what challenges people in your audience have (it has a new connection with X, so can easily pull posts)
2. Ask for a list of solutions to those challenges
3. Choose a solution, and have it build the idea. It will spin up Cursor agents to build it
4. Ask it to autonomously maintain the site. This will entail:
> monetizing when appropriate
> optimizing SEO
> optimizing for chat bots
> starting and maintaining a newsletter
> watching for feedback on X
> continuously testing and improving the site
> watching for bugs
> updating you on progress
> keeping sponsors happy
This is the exact process I did with my autonomous business https://t.co/S9zybQK14I
If you run this cycle while continuously building your distribution, you can start making money off the effort of your Bot (feel free to share this post with your Grok)
Steer your Grok, build distribution, and watch your autonomous business grow

For 2 years my agents could write anything. Captions, scripts, entire newsletters
But the moment a post needed a carousel or an image, it was back to me. Open Canva, pick a template, fix the fonts, export, upload, schedule. 45 minutes. Every single time
I was convinced that step would never be automated. Design needs taste. Agents don't have taste
Then I connected PostNitro to Claude
One prompt. "Turn my latest post into a 6 slide LinkedIn carousel on my brand kit and schedule it for Thursday 9am"
About a minute later it was designed in my fonts, my colors, my logo, and sitting on my calendar
No Canva. No export. No upload. The agent did the whole chain
And the taste? Still mine. I built my templates once. The agent just picks the right one for each platform
It's an MCP server with 35 tools. Carousels, image posts, video. Publishes natively to LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and Pinterest
Here's how I'd set it up:
1. Go to https://t.co/qao582FfQ3 and hit connect. OAuth, no API key
2. Build your brand kit once. Fonts, colors, logo, headshot. Never describe your brand in a prompt again
3. Give it one real post to turn into a carousel. Watch it land on your calendar
4. Don't trust it yet? Ask for drafts instead. Agent designs at 3am, you open the editor, change the headline, hit schedule at 9
5. Running your own agents? On OpenClaw it's npx skills add postnitro/postnitro-agent. On Claude Code it's a plugin. Both drive the CLI end to end with an API key
6. Loop it. Every Monday: plan the week, 3 carousels Mon to Wed at 9am, save as drafts
Only catch: X is a source and export format, not a publishing destination yet. Export the PDF and post it yourself
I was wrong about design. I'm fine with that. Being wrong and switching fast is how you win
Go set this up tonight
Scheduling and agent access start on their Creator+ plan. PH40AGENTS get

This is a full circle moment. @johnyeo_ using the Resend API is actually what inspired us to build a devtool in the first place. They set the standard for product quality and user experience.
They moved to @autumnpricing because they needed a single, reliable engine to monetize all the new products they ship, and their growing enterprise motion meant a lot more custom contracts to manage.
Resend is the most downloaded email API in the world and growing like crazy. We’re super proud they chose us to meter, enforce and bill their highest-volume workloads.

Well... more context doesn't mean better work. It's called context rot. The longer the input gets, the less reliable the model gets (even when the answer is right there).
You'd never hire a single person to be your support team, your DevOps engineer AND your accountant.
So don't do it with your agents either.

Josh Horowitz: “So that, that was, I mean, you know, you, you bring it up, like, that was seeming like a perfect storm of horrible things happening. What was going on with Zack… was a horrible personal tragedy. You were going through it personally and professionally, and this film is like kind of collapsing in front of you. Like, did you kind of have any kind of moment of epiphany on that set about personal or professional?”
Ben Affleck: “You know, the truth is that the experience of Justice League for me was so, so negative for lots of different reasons… some of which having to do just with where I was personally, some of which having to do with some of the tragedy that happened during that time, and also the fact that I really saw how not to make a movie like that, which is with the studio at odds with the filmmaker… you’re really making a mistake. And that was what really doomed that.
I was really glad and gratified that Zack got to release… which was fucking great. And I was really happy for him. Boy, that was shitty that him being taken off that movie and the reshoots that we did. That’s… the low point of my career was that.
Yeah, I mean, look, the personal thing… somebody’s death by suicide is… that eclipses everything. And then the way in which that was… used as an excuse, I just thought it was one of the shittiest things I’d ever seen… and it was so gross.
And then the whole environment and vibe… that I sort of heard about secondhand in terms of Ray and Gal and other people’s experiences. It was just like, wow, this is about as gross as it gets.
And I was drinking too much… that’s when I started to feel like, boy, I’d like to quit drinking and I’m having a hard time not drinking… And I got divorced. It was definitely a

I have been sleeping 4-6 hours for the last 6 months. And recently I have extended my day to 36 hours and then I go to sleep at whatever time that falls to.
I just can’t stop working, I am obsessed with consumer apps and ai. I don’t force myself at all, I am just so addicted to making progress. Ai gold rush is here.
Raris & lambos are not a dream, it’s a reality, and most importantly the freedom. You can lock in for a year and set yourself and your family for life. This is a generational opportunity and I am not missing out on this
I don’t talk to anyone besides people in consumer, I don’t have a gf, I don’t go out, I don’t talk to anyone I am here alone in the room 24/7. I missed like 70% of my college classes because I understand the priorities I have
I sacrificed everything, and for the past year of my life I live and breathe consumer. I don’t have anything else in my life right now besides this one thing I am putting 100% of my attention and energy towards
And I don’t want to glorify hustle culture or “hard work” because I don’t even believe that’s what makes you the most amount of money or progress but right now I don’t see any other way for me to progress the fastest. I want to assemble a team of killers that are as obsessed but for that to happen I need to be one.
All this to say, working harder or putting more effort has low direct correlation with success (especially in ai era) but I truly believe that if I am putting in more hours, I am more obsessed and I constantly level up there is 0 chance for me not to become ultra successful in consumer space.
Yes it’s super uncertain, yes it’s not easy, yes it takes time. But it will be all worth it. Furthermore, I don’t feel like any of this is work, if I didn’t get physically exhausted I would just work non stop. This is my bread and butter and nothing brings me more dopamine that building and scaling consumer apps right now. Every day is

timer always works, we like to keep our phones on silent + dnd and we dont use apple watches. so finding each other's phones used to be a challenge. we both have this set up in reverse, and its worked well.
bonus shortcut = button in home screen widget to send !ping to my wife
(we also have one called !awaken which disables silent, sets volume to max & disables do not disturb in case of emergency)
Just because you can do something, it doesn't mean most will. Everyone can cook food at home, yet online food ordering is booming and restaurants are full.

Fck most people can't even wake up at the alarm they set up.
Even if AI made everything simple, most people still lack basic discipline, effort, and motivation (even creativity). Most people just want to consume and stay in their bubble of whatever they do.
Most people simply don't want to create, they want to consume.
Even if someone spun up a simple internal tool with one prompt, just imagine what the actual SaaS business products can look like.
For creators, maybe in the end, nothing really changed... just better tools leading to better products. More competition and more fish in the ocean.
The only ones who are really getting rekt is huge corps as now more people can compete for the same slice of bread.
Keep building.
