Tom had zero coding experience.
His brother and a friend helped him hack together an MVP in Feb last year. On paper it was a terrible idea - he hired a lead designer, a head dev, and a front-end dev before he had a single customer.
He funded the whole thing with the leftover cash from a marketing agency he’d been running for 10 years.
Then instead of TikTok, UGC, or building in public… he went door to door with an iPad.
He didn’t skip a single business.
Music studios, repair shops, electricians - he’d walk in, show the widget on an iPad in their branding, and hand them a printed brochure.
Trades kept saying yes because they’re direct, no-bullshit, and they only pay for stuff that pays for itself.
That’s how he got his first 10 customers. Now Avenue is embedded on client sites AND inside Google’s “Book Online” button through a direct Google partnership.
His one piece of advice: sell before you build. If someone will hand over cash before the product exists, you’ve found something worth pursuing.
3 months ago i couldn't scale organic.
so i spent weeks researching how tiktok slideshows actually work. which formats pull views, why some accounts explode from zero.
then i built scrollmine. just for myself, just to do the research and distribution faster.

TikTok Ads: Legendary, takes some time to figure out and your app needs to have good user economics but once you find winning creatives it's amazing. Also: TIKTOK ADS MCP
Meta Ads: Same, I prefer TikTok but it depends on your niche
Canvas UGC: The only form of UGC that's reliable. Posting on new accounts makes it both in-line with the nature of UGC as well as making it accessible to creators. Result? you pay little. It requires good understanding of UGC, good management skills, and good payment terms. Also, outreach can be tough sometimes
TikTok Farm: Usually with slideshows, which are only effective on TikTok. It does require many phones obviously, and good software to manage them. For software I recommend Ghost Farm by @wbyanme (not sponsored)
Organic slideshows: Highest ROI, organic way to post content for free. My go-to for testing the waters for a new app. Only on TikTok, the algorithm loves slideshows for some reason. Instagram not at all.
Reddit: Somewhat niche but works if you have a fitting audience. You can also artificially acquire upvotes, and AI indexes reddit too so win-win. Creates a lasting reputation for your app
X: You can go mega viral like with @nestymee if you have something good to show
Organic UGC: Good but you need to have acting skills and a good phone, and you need to understand the principles of UGC very well (appear professionally unprofessional)
Regular UGC: Inherently inferior to Canvas UGC. Why would you buy 1 video for $100? Only use case is if you need a quick video for a launch or website
ASO: Not a lifechanger but you need to have this done properly since it amplifies all your other marketing channels when people visit your app store page
Clipping (slideshows): Only works if your app has something visual to sell. Middle-man parties usually take a large chunk of revenue like 20%. Also suffers from some botting scams
YouTube: Can work, especially with automation like the legen

and Amazon just proved it
a few months ago YouTube added Amazon to its Shopping Affiliate Program. announced august 27 by the CEO himself
what that means is: you can now tag Amazon products directly inside your youtube videos. a viewer watches your 30 second video, taps the product tag, buys it on amazon, and you get a commission. without them ever leaving youtube
THE MATH:
adsense on a short with 1 million views = $250-$400
that same short with an amazon product tag on a $50 item at 4% commission = $2 per sale. if 0.5% of viewers buy, thats 5,000 sales. thats $10,000. from the same video. same views. 25x the money
you dont need more views. you need a product tag on the views you already have
HOW TO ACTUALLY RUN THIS:
YOU NEED TO BE IN THE YOUTUBE PARTNER PROGRAM.
if youre already monetized you can apply for YouTube Shopping affiliates right now inside youtube studio. settings → monetization → shopping. rolling out to US creators first
PICK A NICHE WHERE PEOPLE ALREADY BUY THINGS.
kitchen gadgets, home organization, workout equipment, tech accessories, car accessories, pet products, cleaning tools. things people watch a video about because they are actively shopping
THE FORMAT THAT PRINTS:
"amazon finds under $30" or "things i didnt know existed on amazon." 30 second video showing the product in use. text on screen with the price. product tag underneath. this format already does 5-10 million views per video on tiktok. it barely exists on youtube shorts
FIND PRODUCTS ON AMAZON MOVERS AND SHAKERS.
public page. shows which products are gaining sales rank the fastest RIGHT NOW. amazon. com/gp/movers-and-shakers. free. updated hourly. if a product is climbing in sales, people are already buying it. your video is the last push
USE CAMELCAMELCAMEL TO FIND PRICE DROPS.
free price tracking tool. when a popular product drops 30-40% in price, make a video about it that day. "this was $80 yesterday. its $47 right now." the pro

For 2 years my agents could write anything. Captions, scripts, entire newsletters
But the moment a post needed a carousel or an image, it was back to me. Open Canva, pick a template, fix the fonts, export, upload, schedule. 45 minutes. Every single time
I was convinced that step would never be automated. Design needs taste. Agents don't have taste
Then I connected PostNitro to Claude
One prompt. "Turn my latest post into a 6 slide LinkedIn carousel on my brand kit and schedule it for Thursday 9am"
About a minute later it was designed in my fonts, my colors, my logo, and sitting on my calendar
No Canva. No export. No upload. The agent did the whole chain
And the taste? Still mine. I built my templates once. The agent just picks the right one for each platform
It's an MCP server with 35 tools. Carousels, image posts, video. Publishes natively to LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and Pinterest
Here's how I'd set it up:
1. Go to https://t.co/qao582FfQ3 and hit connect. OAuth, no API key
2. Build your brand kit once. Fonts, colors, logo, headshot. Never describe your brand in a prompt again
3. Give it one real post to turn into a carousel. Watch it land on your calendar
4. Don't trust it yet? Ask for drafts instead. Agent designs at 3am, you open the editor, change the headline, hit schedule at 9
5. Running your own agents? On OpenClaw it's npx skills add postnitro/postnitro-agent. On Claude Code it's a plugin. Both drive the CLI end to end with an API key
6. Loop it. Every Monday: plan the week, 3 carousels Mon to Wed at 9am, save as drafts
Only catch: X is a source and export format, not a publishing destination yet. Export the PDF and post it yourself
I was wrong about design. I'm fine with that. Being wrong and switching fast is how you win
Go set this up tonight
Scheduling and agent access start on their Creator+ plan. PH40AGENTS get

why x is so cracked:
> x is where the alpha is
> everyone who looks for alpha comes here (entrepreneurs, investors, top talent, operators etc...)

2. discord (free)
same as reddit but on discord - low conversion, but you rarely get banned
3. post yourself (free)
tiktok, reels, shorts - post about your app with your face in it, this is free, low conversion, but helps you learn what works with UGC - so you can run a UGC campaign later down the line
4. influencer deal (free but costs equity)
find a big influencer in your niche and offer them a % of profits to post about it - you can even have them say it's "their" app - high conversion, low cost, but you are giving away equity
5. localization (free)
pricing, language, ASO - do the main ones (spanish, german, french...) - small boost in ASO but again it's FREE
From my data, the worst hook in TikTok is the surprised face. 🙊
It looks scripted and got the lowest views for us
Instead, when we tried darker-lighting, slanted camera angle and more subtle facial expressions (irritation, awkward laugh, sadness) it boosted views by 500x https://t.co/Zu0kmetsykFrom my data, the worst hook in TikTok is the surprised face. 🙊

Our highest performing hook on Seriously has pulled 945K views so far.
It works because of a feeling the viewer isn't supposed to have: that they just stumbled onto a secret.
A creator with 160 followers ran it and got 158K views organically. No ads or boosts.

It works because of a feeling the viewer isn't supposed to have: that they just stumbled onto a secret.
A creator with 160 followers ran it and got 158K views organically. No ads or boosts.
Here's how to build a hook like this one, piece by piece, for your own app.
Piece 1: the face.
A girl who looks like your customer, face into the camera, with an exaggerated expression. Shock, disgust, guilt, disbelief. Frame 1 has to look like something happened 1 second ago.
Piece 2: the question.
The text hook is a question that triggers an emotion. Anger and disgust both get people watching. Surprise works even better.
But the one that won here was a fourth feeling: that she found something she SHOULDN'T be sharing.
Nothing makes people more curious than a secret. The viewer has to know what she's hiding.
Piece 3: who's holding the phone.
The face has to be your exact customer, or someone your customer admires.
The whole purpose of UGC is showing the product in someone's hands. If those hands belong to your customer, your customer sees herself in them and wants to try it.
Piece 4: the sound.
A trending jingle plays under it. When a sound is trending, TikTok pushes more videos that use it.
Here are templates for each emotion. Swap in your app:
Anger: "why did nobody tell me about [app] before I spent $[X] on [old solution]??"
Disgust: "wait… people are still [painful old habit] when [app] exists??"*
Surprise: "hold on, this app does WHAT??"*
Guilty secret: "am I allowed to post this or is this gatekeeping??"
Before a creator films any of these, do one quick check.
Read the hook text on its own. If it doesn't make you need to see the next 3 seconds, rewrite it. It's much cheaper to fix a line than a video.
So yeah, the face gets people to stop scrolling, and the question gets them to keep watching.
Get both right and 160 followers is plenty.

Ethan Cajigas is 19. He was a national wrestling champion who hated cutting weight before competitions.
So he built CutCoach - a science-based weight-cut app for combat sport athletes.
The numbers:
> $0 to $60K+ total revenue in 6 months
> 39,000+ downloads
> $20K in a single month
> Built solo with Cursor + ChatGPT
His playbook was almost boring:
1. Solve a problem inside your own hobby.
2. Ask ChatGPT to brainstorm app ideas in that niche.
3. Design in Figma. Steal layout patterns from bigger apps in the space (Duolingo-style shoulders-of-giants).
4. Build front-end first with Cursor, then back-end. Supabase for DB, RevenueCat + Superwall for paywalls, OpenAI for AI features.
5. Ship fast. Iterate on what users actually want.
The marketing unlock: organic posts only pulled 200–500 views… but converted at 5–10%. High-intent beats high-volume every single time.
Then he DM’d small TikTok/Reels creators (1K–10K views) for partnerships. Most said yes. Later he took the winning influencer videos and turned them into paid ads - revenue exploded.
The takeaway: no niche is too small. Wrestlers will pay $30 to make weight because missing weight costs them way more.
Find a painful problem in a small passionate community and build for THEM - not everyone.

The playbook has changed:
Old path:
- Come up with an idea
- Fundraise from friends or VCs
- Hire a team
- Build the product
- Hope it works
New path:
- Start with an audience (X, Instagram, TikTok)
- Vibe code something for that audience
- Run the business from Slack
- Hire an AI employee instead
- Repeat
The new barrier to entry is a laptop and an AI employee.
